Agilico has closed its biggest acquisition to-date by revenue, headcount, and machines in the field (MIF) after snapping up independent managed print and document management provider Capital Document Solutions, which also supplies various production print devices.

The Chandler’s Ford-headquartered workplace technology provider completed the deal on 4 October. It will significantly expand the group’s capabilities across the UK, increases its MIF to over 40,000, and expands its customer base to 13,000 largely SME customers.

Agilico CEO Simon Davey said: “[Capital Document Solutions founder] Tom Flockhart and I spent two years working together on this deal to make sure every aspect of it was carefully considered.

“Though he very sadly lost his battle against cancer before we managed to complete, I know he would be immensely proud of his board of directors and family for honouring his wishes to become part of the Agilico group.”

Board director Pam Flockhart added: “I am delighted that we were able to deliver on the project that dad started with Simon back in 2020, and I know he would have been very proud to see Capital take their place as part of a nationwide Agilico group.

“We look forward to working with the team at Agilico, to further strengthen and grow the business, continue to provide the highest quality service and offer new products and technologies to our customers.”

Agilico was itself acquired by private equity firm Horizon Capital in July 2018.

Luke Kingston, partner at Horizon, also commented: “We are delighted to have supported Simon and Agilico on their tenth acquisition and welcome the fantastic team at Capital into the group.

“Capital and Agilico share a similar ethos of customer centricity, and this combination will also enable the Capital customers to benefit from the broader workplace technology offering from the Agilico Group.”

With several branches based around Scotland and 150 staff – which brings Agilico’s total headcount to 475, Capital’s kit supply offer predominantly includes office equipment such as multifunctional devices.

Among its portfolio from manufacturers including HP, Ricoh, Konica Minolta, and Canon, however, are various production printers and wide-format machines. It also supplies 3D printing kit from MakerBot.

Agilico was known as the DMC Canotec group of companies prior to a unification and rebrand last year.
