Agfa launches M-Press Tiger and Anapurna machines at Fespa Digital

Agfa launched an upgrade to its M-Press, the Tiger at Fespa Digital, claiming a threefold productivity gain.

The machine features page-wide printing arrays in the form of the new M-Press Tiger UV inkjet shuttle, made up of 64 Agfa UPH2 dual colour piezo printheads, offering speeds of up to 1,582sqm an hour.

The press has a colour gamut above that of ISO coated V2 and supports varnish, fluorescents, spot and metallic colours through optional screen print units.

The company claims that there is no set-up time needed when operating the press, giving it the same turnaround time as traditional screen printing but at a lower cost and higher quality.

Agfa's M-Press business line manager said: "The printing capabilities are extraordinary... we have dramatically boosted the speed of the engine as well as introducing new higher quality printing modes and the ability to select gloss level with no impact on productivity."

SMP in south east London, UK will be the first firm in the world to upgrade its M-Press to the Tiger configuration, and plans to have it up and running after the summer.

Agfa also launched the Anapurna Mw and demonstrated the Anapurna M2 at the show. The former adds single pass pre-white and multi-pass post-white to the range, aimed at transparent and backlit applications.

The press can print white along with 1440dpi full gamut colour, separating the management of the ink feeding system because of the different characteristics of white ink.
