Loftware, the US owner of Prisym ID, had decided to divest itself of the profitable consumables division, which sold plain and printed labels, ribbons and NiceLabel labelling and barcode software from its manufacturing site in Wokingham.
The deal, inked on 22 December and funded from Customark cash reserves, has seen Customark take on the entire Wokingham site, along with all eight staff.
Prisym ID’s product offering and customer base – largely medical and scientific manufacturers – offered advantageous synergies for Customark, according to Greg Lerigo, managing director.
He told Printweek that the deal included a range of Focus label printing machinery that complemented existing operations and added fan-folded labels to Customark’s product list.
“The synergy was perfect,” he said, adding: “Acquiring the consumables division of Prisym ID and the recent acquisition of Paramount is part of a wider industrial strategy.
“Customark aims to be a significant supplier of label and graphic products to medical, scientific and industrial manufacturing customers in the UK and Europe.”
Prisym ID has been rebranded as Customark (Wokingham). The two recent acquisitions have now taken Customark to around £8.5m in total sales over six sites.
Customark bought Paramount out of administration in a pre-pack sale in late November which brought 18 staff to the firm.
