Q&A: Marie Gilmour, senior account manager, J Thomson Colour Printers

Marie studied Psychology and French at Glasgow University and graduated with a BSc in 1995. After teaching English in France for a year she changed direction, joined J Thomson Colour Printers and has been there ever since.

What is your nickname?

Titian – only people that read Nancy Drew in their youth will understand

Why did you get into printing?

Purely by accident. After I graduated I really didn’t know what I wanted to do. My dad kept circling job advertisements in the newspapers and I had to pretend to be interested. I didn’t know anything about printing but it was a way to give up my weekend job and be able to have a social life again so I went for it. It was only meant to be short-term until I found a job that I actually wanted to do, but 22 years later I’m still here. Thomson’s got really lucky when they landed me!
