A letter sent out to YMP members said that the rebranding was due to a decline in membership brought about by the difficult economic climate.
In the letter, Ann Drayton, PPM national chairman wrote: "In order for the YMP to remain viable and grow again in the future, we believe that there is no choice but to rebrand our offering and as such I take great pleasure in announcing that with immediate effect the YMP will now be known as PPM (Professionals in Print and Media). This will give us a greater catchment area to target membership and fits with the changing emphasis of our industry.
"I stress that we do not want to forget our history, but to build on its strengths and move it forward. I hope that you will join me in this challenge and do all that you can to make it a success."
PPM, which aims to build networking, training and communication skills among younger members of the print industry, is holding a National Training Weekend, its first event, in Anglesey over the weekend of 23 to 25 September.
Between Friday night and Sunday participants will work in teams and learn how to light a fire using friction, how to build a shelter to sleep in, how to identify edible and useful plants, how to purify water and how to cook on a wood fire.
The event, run by outdoor adventure company Shaggy Sheep Wales, is designed to make participants more comfortable working in teams.
It costs £175 plus VAT for existing members or £200 plus VAT for non-members, including some meals and full PPM membership for the year.
