The Cardiff-based company will take delivery of the Speedmaster XL 105-10-P, its first with Inpress Control, in August when it replaces an existing SM 102 12-colour machine.
According to Alan Padbury, managing director at Westdale Press, the fifth and tenth units on the machine will be used primarily for seals and work that requires both Pantone special colours and a seal can run on the 12-colour XL 105 which it bought in May 2008.
He said: "We believe that on standard work the makereadies on the new XL 105 with Inpress Control automated colour control will be about 25% faster and start up waste even less than on the first XL 105 with Image Control.
"Each XL 105 press has the potential to run 60m impressions per annum. In my view if you are not investing and keeping up to date with technology then you run the risj of slipping behind."
The web and sheetfed print company produces a wide spectrum of reports and accounts, covers, journals, and multi-section catalogues for clients that include Redwood Publishing, Fabbri, Hachette, Filipacchi and Open University.
The 110-staff company said its decision to return to Heidelberg for the long perfector came was a combination of build quality and service.
Padbury added: "Having two replica machines makes it easy to switch work between the two and now we are working to a common plate size again.
"The operators are supportive of the decision and our customers like the fact we are investing and updating. It is vital to have the right equipment to remain in the game in this challenging market."
