UK print well represented in Sunday Times green list

UK print has been well represented in the latest <i>Sunday Times</i> Best Green Companies list 2011.

Duraweld, for the second consecutive year, was recognised for its environmentally friendly business practices.

The stationery company, which ranked 28th out of 60 companies, was up 11 places on last year’s 39th rank.

Angie Francksen, Duraweld sales manager and managing director Hannah Senior, collected the award at an event held at News International’s headquarters.

Francksen said: "We constantly strive to develop and maintain our position as a company leading the field in employing environmentally friendly business practices and offering recycled product ranges to our customers, and this is reflected in our leaping up the list to position 28."

Wide-format display and signage printer Octink has also been named in list for the third year running.

Octink, which is the only display signage company recognised on the green companies list, has long championed a recycling process for old display substrates and materials.

The company offers a closed loop production process and cites the need to recover, recycle and reuse materials.

Speaking to the website BrentfordTW8.com, Will Tyler, chief executive ay Octink, said the company was "delighted" to be ranked fifth greenest manufacturer in the list.

"Our green ethos at Octink is long established and we are fully committed to pushing the boundaries even further," he added
