The Flexo Innovator, developed by Tresu’s Concept division, is the company’s first range of machines for the general packaging market.
Until now it has focused on making bespoke flexo presses for customers including Tetra Pak, according to Kim-Regin Sustmann, head of Tresu Concept.
Sustmann said the Flexo Innovator targets the "crossover" market between narrow- and wide-web flexo.
A Flexo Innovator press was shown publicly for the first time in October to members of the Danish Flexo Forum, who visited Tresu’s technology centre.
The press on display had seven units and a web width of 1,100m, and printed six colours on 220gsm carton board.
As well as the 1,100m web width, Tresu offers 900mm and 1,300mm models. The Flexo Innovator can run substrates including paper, paperboard, laminates and aluminium, at speeds of up to 400m/min
Sustmann said the UK was a very attractive market for the Flexo Innovator, and UK companies had already shown interest in the press.
"The UK is producing all kinds of packaging, and in lots of interesting areas like spirits and sandwich structures," he said. "There’s lots of innovation in packaging lines.
"We are offering a line which will be a supplement to existing kinds of machines, whether offset, CI, narrow web or wide web."
Prices for the Flexo Innovator will depend on configuration but Sustmann said they would be in the range of similar presses already on the market.
Tresu was formed in 1981 as a small engineering company near Kolding, Denmark. In addition to making customised flexo printing machinery, the firm supplies ancillary products including chamber doctor blade systems and ink supply systems.
