The programme was first launched four years ago to reward good products and services, but up to now has been mainly seen as more heavily associated with office supplies.
Sammy Bartley, director of Bartley Business, which is running the warrant for the Stationers' Company, said: “We have been trying to broaden the range.
“The Stationers' Company represents a wide number of industries including print and packaging, newspapers and digital media. We'd like more print and packaging companies to seek warrants.”
The programme recognises effective use of materials and attention to detail, sustainable packaging, environmental and ethical credentials and relevance to market sectors, Bartley said.
Winners can use the warrant on their packaging or for promotional purposes. The warrant recognises original design and manufacturing or production techniques.
“Warrants are so important,” she added. “In highly competitive markets, they offer the holder a valuable USP and something to differentiate themselves from the rest of the crowd.”
Last year nine warrants went to Alamy, Euroffice, Go Pak, Office Club, PCS, Prima, Slightly Foxed, Stewart Superior and Victor Stationery.
A judging panel of six experts includes Christopher Leonard-Morgan, founder of the London Stationery Show, and Doug Wills, managing editor of the Evening Standard.
Any company from one of the industries represented by the Stationers’ Company can apply. The closing date is 20 July 2018.
Applicants are encouraged to approach Sammy Bartley on sammy@bartleybusiness.co.uk to discuss the application before submitting the form and the £500 entry fee.
