The trade-only large-format printer installed an HP Latex 360 a month ago for printing exhibition units, pull-up and vinyl banners. The device, which cost £20,000, runs at a maximum speed of 91sqm/hr.
Marketing director Jack Murphy said the HP was in addition to kit including two other HPs, Z6200 aqueous and FB700 UV roll-to-roll kit, a Mutoh VJ1638W and a Roland DG VS640 solvent machine.
“We bought the latest piece of equipment because of the range of materials it can print on and the quality of the print,” he said.
The 15-staff company, in Slough, Berkshire, has a turnover of £1.2m and was started by Vince Murphy 35 years ago. Jack and sales director Joe Murphy are his sons.
The Big Display Company recently launched a new website that lets users build their own plain-label large-format printing brochure.
Users can add products such as flags, banners, tablecloths and exhibition pop-up units to create a custom brochure that can be downloaded as a PDF and sent to their customers.
Murphy said: “The industry has changed a lot over the past few years; lead times are getting even shorter and print runs are getting more personalised.
“There's more demand for bespoke display solutions on a tighter budget. As manufacturers we wanted to create an easy-to-use resource for trade customers in the industry.
“We know the printed products we make are an easy add-on for many printers and agencies, so we decided to make them even easier to sell with our new brochure.
“By using the brochure creator online you can become an expert in large-format, without having to log in.”
Users click on a product and ‘add to brochure’. After choosing products they click 'download brochure' to create a plain-label PDF ready for sending to clients.
The Big Display Company's website covers a range of products including solvent, UV, dye-sublimation and aqueous printing.
