Sun Chemical sets up certification partnership with Fogra

Sun Chemical has used Drupa to tie up a partnership contract with Fogra, the graphic-technology research association, involving certification of offset print shops.

The deal outlined Sun Chemical's role in helping printers achieve Process Standard Offset certification and in meeting international print standard ISO 12647-2.

"Meeting the standard enables printers to streamline internal workflow and produce the highest offset standards," Fogra managing director Eduard Neufeld said.

"Fogra promotes worldwide use of the ISO; Sun Chemical has a wealth of experience and expertise in offset printing, which will benefit our activities."

The standard is applied when preparing colour separations for four-colour offset printing or for four-colour prints by heatset web, sheetfed or continuous-forms process.

Both groups agreed to cooperate worldwide, with the exception of German-speaking countries, where Fogra is based and which has existing arrangements in place.

Felipe Mellado, corporate vice president and group managing director for Sun Chemical Europe, said: "Fogra is one of the leading research organisations in the graphic arts industry, and we look forward to adding value to this project."
