The eight-colour full flexo multi-substrate press was installed at the Derbyshire-based firm’s premises in September.
It has a web width of 520mm and is equipped with an APC automation extension package, which contains double servo positioning motors to automatically set the desired print pressure settings.
Perfect register and waste-reduction performance were key elements for Stampiton Labels in selecting the press, its first from MPS.
The company, which also operates Mark Andy, Nilpeter and Edale machines, looked at alternatives from Gallus and Nilpeter before making the investment.
Stampiton coating and technical manager Vince Hughes said: “Hopefully having the MPS press and the latest technology will futureproof us and secure our ability to be efficient with our processes.
“We’re expecting to see reduced waste and increased throughput. It’s been excellent so far, the results are stunning and it’s taken us to the next level.”
Stampiton, which is part of the Klimax Group, has its own full in-house design and repro facilities and an in-house coating facility for hot-melt and water-based acrylic adhesive laminates.
The firm, which has 68 staff and is set to turnover around £12.5m this year, is one of the largest dairy label producers in the UK, having printed a billion milk labels last year.
It services the trade markets with stock A4 and fan-folded labels and provides bespoke labels to the office products, computer and multimedia, dairy and food markets.
