Polestar group chief executive Barry Hibbert confirmed that nobody was injured as a result of the fire, which required three appliances - two from Leeds and one from Hunslet - to extinguish.
Polestar group operations director Peter Andreou said: "It appears that it was caused by a seized roller that collapsed into the unit. The damage is limited to a single unit and it looks like the press will be out of action for two weeks.
"Fortunately as a group, this kind of thing we can cope with - there won't be any production interruptions."
He added that Goss had responded promptly to the issue and already sent out a mechanical and an electrical engineer to start work on resolving problem.
