Sign & Digital UK visitor numbers and rebookings surge

This year's signmaking and digital print expo Sign & Digital UK, which took place in Birmingham from 29 April to 1 May, was hailed a huge success by organisers and exhibitors alike.

The event hosted more than 170 exhibitors, a 20% increase on 2013. Rebookings went up by 33% for 2015 as exhibitors sought to secure stands at next year's show.

In total, this year's show attracted 6,113 visitors, an 8% increase on 2013. The show featured a number of national and international product launches, kit demonstrations and more than 30 daily seminars and workshops.

“It’s been better than last year; we’ve seen really high quality visitors and there have been lots of deals made,” said the event’s marketing manager Jane Lewis.

“My highlights have been seeing the happy exhibitors, the good discounts and offers around and watching the deals being done. It’s been great to see new revenue generation and people receiving business advice.”

Exhibitors were pleased overall with the high quality leads that they created and many felt that visitors were actively looking to buy again.

Category and marketing manager at HP Colin Easton said: “We’ve had a really good show; there’s been a good footfall and the type of people that have visited have been looking at investing in new technology. There’s buoyancy back in the marketplace.”

Ricoh UK strategic marketing manager Gareth Parker said: “We’ve seen a very high calibre of customers who are active in their buying. It’s been good to have the ability to sell our services to customers and we have been extremely encouraged by the reaction.”

The show’s biggest success stories included Canon, which sold an Océ ColorWave 900 to Online Reprographics, and Standing Stone, which sold 14 machines on the first day.

Perfect Colours sold 20 HP Latex 300 series printers, eight HP Designjet Z6200 printers, two Omega 2s and one Durst Rho P10 160. I-Sub Digital sold Europe’s first Mimaki JFX-200-2513 LED UV printer to Graphic Station after only 15 minutes on day one.

Exclusive product launches included the Jetrix KX7-D by InkTec Europe, the Mutoh ValueJet 1638X which was premiered by Colourgen, Ricoh’s Pro L4100 Series large-format roll-to-roll printer and Roland DG UK’s first ever dedicated flatbed printer, the VersaUV LEJ-640F.

HP hosted the first European showing of the new Latex 300 printer and Atlantic Tech Services showcased the AEG Voyager Pro 2050 UV printer. QPS launched a brand new digital ink, the Nazdar 202 Series, and Epson introduced its new range of high-speed, four-colour large-format SureColor SC-T printers.

The show’s organisers have confirmed that next year's Sign & Digital UK will move into Halls 17 and 18 at the NEC to accommodate the growing demand. The event will take place on 24 to 26 March 2015.
