Under Wisconsin law any company looking to close a plant or business must file a 60-day WARN notice with the state’s Department of Workforce Development. RR Donnelley did that this week, citing changing market decisions.
The company did not respond to an interview request from PrintWeek and indeed issued no public comment on the closure, which was first reported by the local newspaper.
The news reports added the Department of Workforce Development will be working with the Fox Valley Workforce Development Board to provide rapid response services for the impacted workers.
In May 2012, RR Donnelley said it was closing its plant in Danbury, CT laying off 153 workers as it looked to streamline its print capacity; that closure was on heels of the company shutting a plant in Windsor, CT in March 2012, resulting in 117 layoffs.
RR Donnelley has also closed print facilities in Colorado and the US Midwest while continuing to build its managed printing and integrated communications services with acquisitions like financial data provider Edgar Online last year.
