Nitin Gupta, managing partner at RP Printers, said: "We have invested in the fifth offset printing press to meet increasing production demand and to reduce the production time. Now we print 350 reams (contains 500 sheets) per day."
And Gupta does not see the decrease in demand of long-run print in spite of the digital invasion and the penetration of eBooks in the country. He said: "We are a population of more than a billion with continuously increasing literacy. Reach of digital content and gadgets are only to thousands in metros and big cities. A major part of the population will be depending on the books only."
RP Printers was established in 1968 and specialises in areas of commercial and book printing.
Gupta justifies his decision to go with a pre-owned machine. "Suitable budget, efficient press to meet our demand, low maintenance and government support for pre-owned printing presses are some of the reasons we opted for a refurbished machine," Gupta added.
Running alongside the Heidelberg press are the five-colour Mitsubishi Diamond, a four-colour Adast Dominant, a four-colour Planeta Super Variant and a four-colour Planeta Variant and a raft of post-press kit. It has a capacity to produce 15,000 soft-bound and two thousand hard-bound books per day.
The firm, which caters to corporate and publishing houses has strong views about standards. "Certification helps garner more clients and hence we are in the process of becoming ISO compliant. We are also eyeing in-house CTP as part of our plan to strengthen operations," said Gupta.
RP Printers’ operations at the printing facility depends on the demand of the work but normally runs round the clock. Around 70 workers put in their efforts to fulfil the demand in 372 sq/mtr site.
