The party of 34 printers was made up of retired printers living at Beaverbrook House, in Bletchley, and was an opportunity for them to see more modern printing methods.
One visitor, George Dowrick, said: "The thing that struck me the most was how clean the air conditioned plant is and there's no overpowering smell of ink or the white spirit that we used to clean the rollers with."
Margaret Ireland, a former bookbinder, commented on how the process was now entirely mechanised. "Bookbinding was a skilled occupation and I loved every minute of it," she said.
