The Lurgan, Northern Ireland-based business has installed a Kongsberg XL cutting table, CDI Spark 5080 large-format digital flexo platesetter with HD Flexo screening, and Digital Flexo Suite pre-press software.
RSNI said it will expand sales into the UK market on the back of the investment, which has enabled time, cost and waste savings, whilst targeting a fourfold increase in turnover, to £3m, within the next five years.
Paul Vaughan, director at RSNI, said: "With our enhanced capacity and high-quality production capabilities, we're well placed to offer our services in the UK."
Vaughan added that the 11-staffed company, which was established in 2001 as a plate provider to the corrugated packaging market, was also keen to expand its work in the label sector.
The installation of EskoArtwork's Digital Flexo Suite has enabled RSNI to automate flexo plate production, reducing errors, saving costs and increasing productivity.
Vaughan said: "It deskills a significant amount of the process, and reduces the potential for errors in corrugated mounting. What the software has given us is peace of mind.
"The market is under a lot of price pressure at the moment and this enables us to bid alongside our UK counterparts. The software lets us offer great quality assurance, helping us to win business and safeguard our long-standing working relationships."
Meanwhile, the company's new Kongsberg XL cutting table, which is used for sample making and short run production, has enabled further productivity improvements, as previously all work was being cut by hand.
"This is my favourite tool and I'm very impressed with it," said Vaughan. "It's a vast improvement from a lean manufacturing point of view."
RSNI upgraded to the CDI Spark 5080 from an older EskoArtwork imager in order to match the production speed of the Kongsberg XL table. "The CDI Spark 5080 has dramatically reduced the time needed to manufacture a sheet ," said Vaughan. "We're also starting to use HD Flexo and can see how it will help us grow the labelling business."
