The 2004 winner returned to form in some style this year, blowing away the competition with its spectacular array of sensational print. The judges were impressed with the "amazing range of work" submitted by Empress, from "beautiful monochrome to an amazing piece of colour". The colour piece being referred to was Anthony Frost's The Colour of Sound, a book commissioned for the artist's Christmas 2008 show. It presented a significant challenge in terms of replicating the intense vivid colours produced by Frost's thick application of glossy acrylic on rough sacking canvas, but Empress was up to the challenge, producing a truly memorable piece of print worthy of the Fine Art award.

Having made the finals of the Fine Art category in each of the past two years, Granite Colour goes one step further this time out, picking up a commendation in one of the toughest categories of the awards. Given the quality of its work, who would bet against them taking that final leap to claim the top prize in 2010?
St Ives Westerham Press

It's back-to-back commendations for St Ives Westerham. This time its work on the Highgrove Florilegium, which featured watercolour paintings from botanical artists across the world, hit the mark. The beautifully designed and hand-bound volumes were printed using a special green ink.
