Proving the sky’s the limit for this London-based printer, a document about London’s iconic Shard building was one of this year’s highlights. The printer produced the cover on its Vutek digital press and chose black Perspex affixed to Corvon Senzo Black material to mirror the reflective surfaces of the building itself, and printed the text pages on 160gsm Splendorgel stock to ensure high-impact throughout. The Children of London Photobook also showcased digital printing at its best, allowing Screaming Colour to overcome the challenges of critical colour accuracy and potential visual loss at the book’s perfect-bound edge.
Commended – Augustus Martin
Those visiting the POP European exhibition this year may have been treated to Augustus Martin’s commended work in the form of a pop-up nightclub on an exhibition stand. The printer showed off its digital prowess with banner-grade PVC panels printed with magnetic ferrous backing, which were erected to create a relaxed nightclub environment in just four minutes.
Commended – ProCo
Also flying the flag for digital print was last year’s company of the year, ProCo, which was proud that the Augmented Reality brochure demonstrated the value and impact of print despite its multimedia subject matter. ProCo also impressed the judges with a football brochure illustrating the strengths of its digital department.
