PrintWeek Awards: Business Magazine Printer of the Year - Stephens & George Print Group

Stephens & George must have been wondering what exactly it needed to do to win the coveted B2B magazine printer crown, having been commended in 2008, 2009 and also last year.

However, in many respects their solid performance over the past three years is indicative of why the judges ranked them top dog this year – consistency. The Welsh sheetfed magazine specialist’s work on Pure Beauty, Designer, M&C Report and, of course, PrintWeek, all produced on their battery of Heidelberg XL 105s, utilising the presses’ Prinect Inpress Control inline colour management to ensure ISO 12647, wowed the judges in terms of vibrant colour in what they described as "an extremely tightly fought category". The firm’s entry, which illustrated an unrivalled technical ability, also highlighted that the people factor is just as important at its Merthyr Tydfil site, as proven by the glowing testimonials willingly supplied by a raft of happy customers.

Commended – BGP

Benhamgoodheadprint was a worthy finalist in this category in 2010 but, this year, the company has gone when one better and sealed a well-deserved commendation from the judges. This is thanks, in no small part, to extremely high level of colour consistency achieved on titles such as Image magazine for the Association of Photographers.
