PrintWeek Awards 2013 SME of the Year - Prime Print Group

Prime Print Group is the 'in' company right now. It has invested in people, in training, in premises and in kit.<br><br>Category sponsor: Close Brothers Asset Finance

Some 1,400sqm has been added to its Nottinghamshire base, while new sales posts are in the offing at a business strong on training. This includes a scheme to help long-term unemployed people find jobs and a 12-month programme for customer-facing staff. Group managing director Jon Tolley is proud of a company with trading links in the US and Australia and a competitive streak that helped it win one of the most hotly contested categories this year.

COMMENDED

Blink Print

The recession dealt its blows, but Blink Print survived and thrived through continued investment especially in the retail POP sector. It recently bought a Zünd S3 flatbed cutter and added another print finisher and driver to a team that now numbers seven high-achieving staff in Leicestershire.

Plastic Card Services (PCS)

If there were a prize for the most consistent business in print, then PCS would take it – this year seeing its third SME commendation. In the past year, the firm has helped build the largest loyalty card scheme in Denmark. Success stories like this have drawn the attention of high-street brands and a gong from The Guardian for its gutsy inroads into new markets.
