"Our main focus is the premium market for photo printing which we do on Indigo 5500. It comprises of 70-80% of our portfolio of printing," said Biju Paul, co-owner of Photo Perfect Press. "We get the rates we quote because we deliver a great degree of versatility and customisation in the execution of every job across a spectrum of different materials."
The Indigo 5500 press was inaugurated by famous Tamil film actors Sri Thyagarajan and Sri Prasanth Thyagarajan at Photo Perfect Press’ facility at Chakkarparambu in Kochi.
"The six-colour capability of the HP Indigo press 5500 means that we can photo print products far beyond traditional commercial print as well as the ability to change individual inks on the fly," Paul added. "We are using light cyan and light magenta as the other two colours apart from regular CMYK."
Photo Perfect’s finishing equipment include a thermal lamination machine from Macroprint, a die-cut for lay flat albums and a second hand perfect binder from Horizon.
In addition to handling photo printing, the company has identified web-to-print as a growth area for the future with HP Indigo 5500. It works closely with its clients from advertising agencies, creative artist and photographers some of whom include names like T Anil Kumar, Regi Bhaskar Abraham Tharaka, Ashok Photography, Mark Communications and Communication Mantra.
"In the future, HP Indigo will also enable the company to reconfigure the photography business through digital offset products. The rise of digital printing in key industries such as photo merchandising (personal calendars, cards and photo books), publishing, labels and packaging has contributed to the growth of HP Indigo press installations and impressions," said Appadurai A, country manager for HP Indigo and inkjet web press solutions.
HP Indigo has close to 94 installations in India out of which 31 are in the photo printing segment. Kochi has two printers doing photo work including Photo Perfect. Overall, Kochi has four digital presses.
Photo Perfect Press installs Indigo 5500 for premium photo printing
Kochi-based Photo Perfect Press installed an HP Indigo 5500 on 30 June 2011 to cater to photo books and photo albums market. The machine went into production on 14 September 2011.
