Manio Loia, owner of Cafe Eataliano, said: "We were looking to create an instant hit with customers, and realised that a vibrant and visually-impactful eating environment was equally as important as the quality of the menu itself."
The firm produced over 40sqm of wall coverings, eight double-sided roller blinds, 8.8sqm of backlit graphics and 2.2sqm of textile-printed graphics all showing the history of the Loia family's 30-year-old wine-making business in Tuscany, Italy.
OPG printed all of the graphics on its Designjet L26500 printer using HP latex inks. The wall coverings were printed on HP PVC-free Wall Paper, while the backlit graphics were printed directly onto 3M Frosted Crystal and 3M self-adhesive clear film and applied across four 900x2,440mm backlit Perspex panels and glass partitioning.
3M self-adhesive front-lit film was applied to an aluminium composite panel and affixed to the wall, while the five 800x550mm textile-printed graphics were produced on DigiEco 100% PE 210g knitted fabric.
OPG general manager Alan Watson said: "We finished installing the entire graphics package for Cafe Eataliano on a Friday and by the Sunday, the restaurant was full of customers.
"This could not have been achieved with our solvent printers, because the smell would have still been unbearable, as would the ensuing conversation with my customer. Insofar as interior graphics are concerned, it’s a case of being seen and not smelt."
Meanwhile, OPG has recently achieved ISO 14001 accreditation; Watson said the firm's use of HP Latex printing technology was "pivotal" in the environmental award.
