Manohar Rodrigues, managing director at Phase-D, said: "The machine's ease-of-use, ability to print on a wide range of substrates and environmental credentials were the main aspects which we considered. The machine uses less power as it is single phase and has a decent footprint."
The HP L25500 leverages environmental credentials with latex inks offering application versatility across various applications from indoor to outdoor or from outdoor to indoor. It prints at a maximum speed of 22.8 sqmtrs per hour and can produce a volume of 500 sqmtrs.
Third-party media from 3M, Avery Dennison, Intelicoat, Mactac and Neschen has also been approved for use with the L25500. But Rodriques laments the vulnerable supply of these substrates. He said: "While these substrates have been approved, the availability is the question.
We still have to rely on the substrates which are hazardous to the environment and are inferior in quality. Even if the green media is available, our clients don't want to pay the premium."
And in order to offset the cost factor, Phase-D plans to cater to the aviation industry. "The aviation industry is still a virgin market and holds great opportunity," said Rodrigues with great expectation.
Established in 1999, Phase-D caters to corporates like Idea Telecom, Pepe Jeans, ITC, Warner Brothers, Vijay Sales, Nissan Motors, Citizen Watches and Axis Bank.
Phase-D employs 10 persons at its unit in Byculla.
