Mimeo expands into Europe with CLE acquisition

Mimeo, the US-based digital print firm, has acquired Cambridgeshire-based CLE Group, giving it its first European production facility.

The company, which took its first steps in the UK market with the launch of a web-to-print offering in 2009, said the acquisition would "accelerate" its expansion into Europe.

The newly-enlarged group will employ 640 staff and cater for clients from more than 141 countries.

CLE Group chief executive Jamie Wardley has taken on the role of general manager at Mimeo Europe with the remaining CLE employees also moving across.

CLE will move from existing Huntingdon facility to a new 4,645sqm site also in the area, which will serve as the maiden Mimeo production and distribution site in Europe.

Wardley said: "We've always been impressed with Mimeo's technology driven culture, cloud-based customer facing applications and overnight distribution capabilities.

"By joining forces we are able to offer customers an integrated set of capabilities that neither one of us could have offered alone."

According to Adam Slutsky, chief executive of Mimeo, the new company looks forward "to bringing our combined strengths to our valued customers and the broader market".
