Meriden Paper becomes FSC accredited following customer requests

Paper distributor Meriden Paper has become FSC accredited in response to increasing demand from retailers and customers.

The Birmingham-based company manufactures and distributes paper roll products for use in retail, ATMs, and other specialised settings, as well as offering a flexographic printing service.

Director of the 37-staff firm, Alex Vergopoulos, claimed it had become FSC accredited because only one other manufacturer in its field also had attained FSC certification.

He said: "Our customers have been encouraging us to get this accreditation as they didn't want to have only one option in the market, so it also promotes competition. It is a prerequisite of certain pieces of business."

The £6.4mturnover company has no plans at present to become PEFC accredited as, according to Vergopoulos, FSC "seems to have taken centre stage".
