The Forums comprised production demonstrations at Hunts in Oxford, Platinum Print in Harrogate and Hertford Offset. Each event included a half-day H-UV presentation from Komori and curing lamp manufacturer Baldwin.
Some 50 visitors discussed with Komori comparisons with H-UV alternatives, legislative compliance, drying and ink technology and financial analysis from a range of printers.
They saw a five-colour Lithrone S29 with coater at Hunts and a four-colour Lithrone S49 at both Hertford Offset and Platinum Print.
Komori marketing consultant Philip Dunn said: “Visitors came from as far as Ireland and Yorkshire and I think there is little doubt we will have another tranche of events later in the year.
“It was excellent; explaining technology is one thing but explaining and then showing it in action while it's still fresh in the mind works a treat.
“It's the first time we have done that in the UK; we've held demonstrations in showrooms and with individual customers, but to have a forum and then see equipment working prompts all kinds of questions.
“Our team is already sending out quotations from the first event. Visitors were particularly interested in kit with five units and a coater.
“They feel it gives something to sell on to their own customers and gives their salespeople an opportunity to show they are different from other printers.”
Komori UK director of sheetfed sales Steve Turner added: “We were absolutely delighted with the turnout at all three forums.
“They gave us the unprecedented opportunity to show the Komori H-UV curing system in action in real production environments to more than 50 printing company executives.
“Komori now has over 500 H-UV presses in production around the world, covering an almost infinite variety of B1 and B2 applications.
“In the UK, we’re already nearing the sale of our 100th H-UV unit, and we’re very confident that orders resulting from this first trio of Printology H-UV forums will help us to reach – possibly surpass – this figure.”
