The Humberston, Lincolnshire-based company has installed the Indigo, as well as an AB Graphic Omega Digicon Series 2 finishing machine, in a bid to create an end-to-end label and packaging production unit.
Manging director Richard Pullan said the company's migration into digital production took place for a number of reasons.
"We'd been evaluating digital label printing for about two years, but it was at Label Expo in September that we felt there was a solution to meet our long-term needs and that the time was right," he added.
Moving into digital represents the next step for the family-run printer, which began as a commercial operation before later moving into label production with UV flexo presses.
Pullan anticipates that, with the seven-colour Indigo press and Digicon finishing unit on board, the company can capitalise by taking advantage of digital print's capabilities.
"We believe that customers now require shorter runs, reduced stock holding and the ability to have more frequent design changes," he said.
"The HP Indigo press delivers that, as well as variable data printing, for sequential numbering, variable barcoding and other track-and-trace information."
Kingsway Printers was established in 1972 and specialises in label converting that includes peel-and-read and reveal-and-reseal labels.
