The i-series printhead, which the manufacturer says is three times faster than its existing 1024 series, is being demonstrated on a Konica Minolta ColourPrint single-pass colour inkjet press on the firm’s joint stand (P92).

Despite the speed increase, IIJ stressed that the new head still offered a print resolution of 360dpi.

Print width of the new device, which is targeted at applications such as security printing, credit cards, textiles, label and ceramics, is from 36mm to 2m.

IIJ said it had received 40 enquiries about the new KM1024i printhead, which has a linear print speed of 70m/minute, by the end of the exhibition’s opening day alone.

IIJ managing director John Corrall said: "It’s very exciting to have had so many enquiries about the new printhead. We think this device will be of interest to a range of industries and it can also be used for printing onto plastic parts, which we think will be the next big thing."

La feria Fespa es el escenario escogido por Industrial Inkjet (IIJ) para la presentación internacional de un nuevo cabezal de impresión de alta velocidad.

El i-series, que según el fabricante es tres veces más rápido que la serie 1024 con la misma resolución de 360 x 360 ppp, puede verse en una impresora en color por inyección de tinta de pasada única Konica Minolta ColourPrint en el stand que ambas marcas comparten (P92).

La anchura de impresión del cabezal, diseñado para aplicaciones de seguridad, tarjetas de crédito, tejidos, etiquetas y cerámica, va de los 36 mm a los 2 m.

IIJ dice que el primer día de la feria ya se interesaron cuarenta clientes por el nuevo cabezal KM1024i, que ofrece una velocidad de impresión lineal de 70 m/minuto.

"La acogida que ha tenido el i-series ha sido fantástica", dice John Corrall, director general de IIJ.

"Este dispositivo interesará a varios sectores; y además sirve para imprimir piezas de plástico, un segmento que creemos que florecerá en breve", afirma.
