Humidity keeps it cool at Ipex

Humidity Solutions is keeping show visitors cool thanks to a stateof-the-art humidity control system, which has been fitted throughout the exhibition halls.

The Leatherhead-based company specialises in installing cold water, low-energy atomising sprays to provide climatic control. At Ipex, 16 humidifier heads, each housing nine 2.9-litre-per-hour nozzles, work in tandem with fans fixed 6m above the exhibition floor.

The company has fitted more than one kilometre of high-pressure hose throughout the exhibition halls to ensure the fine atomised water spray is quickly evaporated into the air, providing a constant pleasant environment.

Humidity Solutions sales director John Barker claimed there were numerous benefits to installing humidity controls in a press hall.

"Hygroscopic materials such as paper require the correct humidity levels to ensure dimensional stability and consistent conditions in which to produce the best-quality work. Humidity is a variable printers can do without," said Barker.

He added that the use of humidity control was already commonplace within press halls in mainland Europe but the firm had noticed a significant increase in business from the UK recently.

The company is demonstrating a wide range of humidification technology on stand 7/E476, ranging from compressed air and water through to steam humidifiers for digital press rooms.
