The group will hold a celebration event for more than 200 international guests on 22 October at Hofbräukeller in Munich.

Representatives from politics and business, shareholders and members of the founding family will attend the event while speakers will include Munich mayor Dieter Reiter and publisher Dirk Ippen.

The group was formed in 1765 after Mathias Mittermayr received the permit from the electoral court in Munich to sell the 'Vienna Varnish', 'Prussian Blue', 'Carmine Red' and some yellow inks in Germany and abroad.

Management board member Ulla Borgmann said: “We are very proud of our long tradition. We are the living proof that despite all political and economic turbulences within these 250 years, successful business can be maintained.

“We feel the obligation to our shareholders and employees to sustain the success through well-defined strategies that fit to the continuously changing market conditions.”

Hubergroup currently comprises of 40 companies and 130 sites. The group, which manufactures products for packaging, commercial printing and news printing, has 3,500 staff and a turnover of around €835m (£613m).

A special lunch will also be held for employees in all of the group’s companies on 29 September, the actual founding date of the business.
