The FB700 can operate in high-volume print environments and features an automatic media alignment bar that allows for easy loading and positioning of substrates. It measures both the thickness and position of the media through an onboard camera.
HP’s FB700 can print in up to six-colours at resolutions of up to 1,200x600dpi. According to the manufacturer, it can also print on a wide-range of substrates including corrugated plastic.
The machine has a maximum print area of 2,500x3,050mm and can print on substrates up to 64mm thick.
In addition to the FB700 launch, HP's newly-expanded, wide-format product line-up includes two new Scitex machines, the entry-level FB500 flatbed and its high speed TJ8600UV poster printer.
HP's two Scitex latex machines are the Scitex LX600, a 2.6m-wide machine, and the LX800, a 3.2m-wide machine, which replaces HP's original latex model, the Designjet L65500.
New features to the latest Scitex machines include an ink collector kit, which enables the printing of textiles and other porous media without liner paper.
The manufacturer's FB500 1.6m flatbed offers white-ink on a low-volume machine and can handle 64mm-thick media and has an optional roll-to-roll kit. It offers speed ranges from 5sqm/hr in photo mode to 37sqm/hr for express mode.
HP's previously announced, high-speed TJ8600UV is claimed to offer enhanced image quality, greater flexibility and lower running costs.
