In addition, its sports supplement will become part of the main newspaper apart from on Saturday and Mondays. G2 will also undergo a reduction in pagination as part of the changes at the newspaper.
According to a spokesperson, the changes will promote a simplified production process taking account of "changing patterns of readership and advertising".
"This will be introduced in January, along with some changes to the printed Monday to Friday Guardian. The changes to the paper take account of changing patterns of readership and advertising and are based on research with our readers," they told The Telegraph.
Las month, Guardian Media Group (GMG) said it will restructure its print plants at Manchester and London, in a move that could result in the publisher ceasing to print its own titles.
An email from GMG chief executive Andrew Miller, sent to all employees, confirmed that the company was looking into its print strategy in a bid to improve the company's efficiency.
Speculation has also emerged that the company is in talks with rival publisher Trinity Mirror to move the Guardian to its Watford plant. Under the plan, the company would move its Berliner presses to Trinity's plant.
