Over 100 professionals from across the publishing industry, including publishers, printers, booksellers, distributors, writers, lawyers, analysts, consultants, editors and media attended the conference.
The focus of the conference was on current markets trends, new business models, and the digital future.
P T Rajasekharan, the managing director of Panther Publishers/ chairman, Focus Medica India said: "digitisation will first and foremost help in converting the existing published content to various digital platforms, secondly it facilitates evolving and adapting the same versions to digital versions and lastly in creating completely new digital content as differentiated from e-books."
India, he said, has an opportunity to be a global player in both converting existing print material to various digital platforms as also be a major digital content creator.
Michael Moynahan, Ceo at HarperCollins ANZ said: "it provided an opportunity to engage in a discussion on how India fits into both, a world of publishing focused on the issues it faces everyday whilst seeing within the context of a changing world and how we can learn from the challenges and opportunities that it presents."
Globalocal, an initiative started by GBO is in its second year. It was started in 2009 in the format of a round table meet with over 40 participants from all across the publishing and printing industry globally.
