The Theale, Reading-based business consulted supplier Robert Horne Group on the options available within the direct to substrate sector, visiting its Manchester digital showroom before opting for the new HP Scitex machine.

Its investment in the 1.6m machine has enabled the sign manufacturing company to significantly cut the turnarounds associated with its display graphics printing.

Previously, the Berkshire firm would use its solvent machines to print onto vinyl that was then cut to the required size before an operator would laminate the vinyl onto the desired substrate.

According to Chris Lake, operations director of Glendining Signs, the new addition would enable the 30-year-old company to expand.

"Robert Horne has helped us find the perfect solution, we will now be able to keep a

competitive edge with keen pricing, supreme quality and turnaround, as well as exploring new avenues of business," he added.

Lake said the Scitex machine would not only cut running costs but would also enable the business to move into new sign making areas such as the ability to print using white ink.
