First Choice records substantial drop in energy useage

Xerox distributor First Choice Business Systems has recorded a substantial drop in water and electricity usage as it passes the latest of its ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 assessments.

The Orpington, Kent-based company reduced its electricity usage by nearly 18% since 2008, and its water usage by 7%.

The figures helped the company successfully pass the latest ISO 9001 and 14001 assessments.

Ellen Hunt, ISO management representative at the business, said that there are always ways a company can improve its environmental effort, even in areas where there has already been considerable reductions in usage.

First Choice Business Systems became ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 certified in January last year.

Companies that have the certifications are required to pass a comprehensive assessment every six months to ensure continued compliance with internationally recognised standards in both areas.
