Fespa boosts size of fashion textiles showcase for 2019

Fespa will nearly double the floorspace of its Print Make Wear fast fashion textile printing showcase for the 2019 edition of the show.

Set to take place in Munich, Germany, on 14-17 May, Fespa 2019 will see the feature, which was new for 2018, grow in size as a response to the positive reception of its debut.

Covering 350sqm in its first year, Print Make Wear engaged more than 2,000 of the Berlin show’s 20,442 attendees in its exhibition of the technological and consumable options available to businesses interested in printing fashion textiles and garments.

According to the latest showplan, the section will cover 637sqm this year.

The feature includes live production environments across screen, digital and roll-to-roll printing disciplines. Fespa will use the increased space in Munich to allow it to take more people through its guided tour of the environment.

Fespa head of events Duncan MacOwan said: “People last year valued seeing an independent showcase of the technologies within this sector all put together in a full production line from design to finished products.

“We had great attendance from people interested in supplying fast fashion garments to the high street, as well as some surprise visitors like one from a large vehicle interiors manufacturer. We hope for some more left-field visitors this year.

“I think we want people to leave with both inspiration and knowledge, as we aim to highlight the opportunities of textile printing to our community. I hope they leave with an understanding of what is achievable and sustainable within this market.”

With support from brands including Adobe, Adelco, EFI, HP, Mimaki, Vastex MagnaColours, Easiway and Premier Textiles, Print Make Wear 2019 will showcase direct-to-garmet screen and digital printing using water-based inks, and roll-to-roll technologies including dye-sublimation.

New additions for 2019 will include 3D modelling software and Adobe’s Project Paras design tool specifically engineered for the fashion market.

Prints for the live showcases have been created specifically for Fespa by photographer and illustrator Jasper Goodall and the garments for roll-to-roll demonstrations will be provided by fashion designer Aminah Hamzaoui.
