"Wallpaper printing is the obvious application, but pop-up spider displays are another – basically anything where the output needs to be laid precisely next to each other," said Epson business development manager Andreas Oehlert.
The upgrade kit for existing users of the wide-format eco-solvent device is expected to cost less than €4,000 (£3,476) including installation. "The ROI is very good and we expect users to recoup the cost very quickly," Oehlert added.
Separately, the firm has made two major media announcements. It has developed a new Media Qualification Program to allow third-party substrates for the GS6000 to be approved and profiled. Epson has worked with independent QA company Color Concepts to implement the system.
"For end users it's great – they know the media has been tested and qualified, and that it will work," explained Bart de Vreede, general manager at Color Concepts.
Media vendors can also add the Epson Media Qualification Program logo to their websites and products, and custom profiles for special applications are also available.
Epson has also added a new Production Media range of low-cost substrates to its offering, incorporating point-of-sale and CAD media, providing a cost-effective alternative to its high-end professional media range.
Frans Craandijk, Epson sales development manager LFP, said: "We haven't had a volume production range before. These substrates will work on our Stylus Pro 9700 as well as a whole range of other print platforms.
"With this range we are offering good pricing for the purpose. And the quality still has to meet our Epson quality standards, even for this lower price point," he added.
The PoS range includes canvas, pp film, textiles, scrim banner and self-adhesive vinyl.
