The Omega 1 is a 35m2/hr, 1,723dpi machine suited to fine art printing, but the company believes its ability to print in high quality direct onto a wide range of substrates, including brushed aluminium, will extend its market appeal.
"This level of production is normally out of our remit, but we believe entry-level products are going to be very popular so it is a very attractive market for us," said Rudolf Massimo, Durst product manager.
The company is also showcasing a new version of its Rho series, the 1000L. Capable of speeds of up to 380sqm/hr, the press can be upgraded to enable printing of white ink, as well as additional process colours such as orange and violet.
