At Drupa, the Cornish company ordered a Roland 700 HiPrint 10-colour perfector, marking a move into the long-perfector arena following 10 years in the B1 sector.
The new press, which runs at up to 16,000 sheets per hour, will be situated in part of the 1,000sqm extension that nearly doubles the floor area of Deltor's Satlash factory.
The former all-Komori house also tested Mitsubishi and KBA kit and was impressed with makeready speeds.
However, managing director Alan Shannon said: "It was the quality and front-to-back consistency (of the Roland 700) that stood out.
"It also reached optimum colour consistently quickly, and that is important in the production of saleable sheets."
An InlineSheeter, cutting reel-fed paper into sheets, will give a cost advantage of up 20% on substrates, Shannon's wife and finance director Caroline said.
The factory extension was handled by their son Sam, who is also part of the management team.
Brochures and leaflets for publishers, universities and local authorities, including Plymouth Argyle FC's match programme, will be produced on the new Roland, which replaces a five-colour Komori in August.
Deltor broadens horizons with 10-colour perfector and factory extension
Deltor Communications expects to make long-term savings with a new press and a major factory extension.
