The developer has built the functionality into the latest release of its web-to-print software, Pageflex 7.6, which is now at the vanguard of a new generation of PDF/VT authoring applications.
The release follows the Ipex launch of version 2.5 of the Adobe PDF Print Engine (APPE), which is capable of leveraging the PDF/VT standard.
Mark Lewiecki, senior product manager for APPE, said: "PDF/VT represents the wave of the future for variable data printing, the most dynamic segment of the industry.
"Pageflex users will soon be reaping the rewards of the new format: clean hand-offs, efficient prepress workflows, effective high-ROI campaigns, and compelling, graphically rich content."
However, whilst there are many existing digital front ends based on APPE 2, which allows intelligent caching to efficiently render PDF/VT files, there are none based on APPE 2.5.
Lewiecki said that he expected digital front ends built on APPE 2.5, which enables dynamic run-time capabilities such as filtering, rules-based imposition, audit trail, barcoding and checkpoint re-start in case of paper jams, to begin shipping in the next 12 months.
