The proposed sale comes just over a year after TMG sold its other print facility, West Yorkshire-based Acorn Web Offset, and could save Warrington-based Apple from the threat of closure.
Paul Mogridge, operations director at Trader Publishing Limited, told PrintWeek: "The company has been looking at various options with regards to the future of Apple Web Offset, including the potential closure or sale of the business.
"Whilst there had been interest in purchasing Apple Web previously that did not come to fruition; there is now an interest from a potential buyer, although a sale is not currently confirmed. Trader Publishing is currently in consultation with its employees regarding this proposal."
According to industry sources, Walstead Investments, owner of Wyndeham Press Group and Southernprint, is the most likely buyer of Apple Web Offset. Both TMG and Walstead declined to comment.
Apple's former sister company, the £17m-turnover Acorn Web Offset, was sold to magazine and catalogue printer Garnett Dickinson on 28 August last year for an undisclosed sum.
