Five of its Indonesian mills have become certified in the wood-tracking scheme that APP said ensures products are sources from a responsibly managed forest.
It said that the move means it is the first company to launch LEI-certified paper worldwide.
The LEI accreditation has risen to prominence in the Japanese, European and US markets through certified furniture.
Certification was conducted by TUV International Indonesia, which is part of German-based TUV Rheinland, from April to July this year. APP's mills were accredited following a four-stage programme.
Aida Greenbury, APP's director of sustainability and stakeholder engagement, said: "We are very proud to have achieved LEI CoC certification as it demonstrates our commitment to responsible development of Indonesia' pulp and paper company.
"We are constantly working to improve the sustainability of our operations."
