Pindar joined the business when York acquired Pindar’s Scarborough web offset site in July 2011, after parent group GA Pindar & Son went into administration. His last day was 31 October.
Chief executive Chris Ingram said: "Andrew played an important ambassadorial role to help transition the business. Collectively we felt that had now run its course.
"He worked hard to add value to the business going forward, and I know he’s going to maintain a close working relationship with Pindar Scarborough and York Mailing."
Pindar said he would now focus on his other business interests, including sailing and marine logistics specialist GAC Pindar, and his part-ownership of London-based fine stationery printer Barnard & Westwood.
"I wish everyone at York Mailing all the best with their venture. We did create something with enduring value at Pindar and there is a positive legacy among the damage caused by the administration," he said.
Ingram said the enlarged business, which now has sales of some £65m, was going "extremely well", with the Pindar facility focusing on high-quality catalogues for internet retailers.
Fresh investment at the site includes a Muller Martini Corona binder. "I’m probably more excited about the prospects for print than I have been for the last 20 years," he stated.
