Acorn Web Offset sought out the accreditation, after its customers requested their printed products were produced more sustainably.

Andrea Chaney, health, safety and environmental manager at Acorn Web Offset, said: "This is why, in addition to offering either FSC or PEFC certified sustainably sourced paper, and the assurance of a British Standards Institution certified Environmental Management System, we are now working with the Carbon Trust to actively reduce our site's carbon footprint."

The company has set several environmental targets, and introduced waste segregation procedures and recycling facilities, across all areas of the business.

This has already created a 40% reduction in the amount of waste being sent to landfill.
