"Adobe launch cements commitment to print". This headline caused something of a wry smile, as I read the article shortly after receiving an email from a reader bemoaning the fact that he had scoured the halls at Ipex looking for the Adobe stand, before giving up.
The reason he couldn't find the stand was because there isn't one. This fact is doubly galling and/or ironic given that Adobe founders Chuck Geschke and John Warnock were among those honoured as Ipex Champions in Print, too.
Of course Adobe technology is in use by many exhibitors at Ipex, but for the firm not to have its own booth
is, frankly, insulting. At the last Drupa it had its own stand and was also
involved with the Drupa Innovation Parc. I am at a loss to understand why Ipex
was not deemed worthy of similar attention. Parsimony? Arrogance? Disinterest?
I hope someone suitably high up in
the Adobe echelons is big enough to admit the company has made a mistake and
missed an opportunity here in Brum. Next time around this industry "commitment"
should extend to a proper Ipex presence under its own banner.
