Plastgrommet has launched a trio of new machines that optimise and automate various time-consuming finishing tasks at Fespa Global Print Expo in Munich.

Rafa Menendez, head of sales and marketing at the Spanish manufacturer of finishing equipment for banners and fabrics, said automating finishing as much as possible was key for the company’s customers.

“We’re seeing that customers are looking at really short lead times; it’s not just about finishing capacity but also the time in which end users require you to finish jobs.”

The three new machines are all commercially available immediately.

Roll2Roll Welding is a system that can weld both sides of rolls, while Roll2Roll Eyeleting Pro features an automatic eyelet setting on both sides of a roll with a motorised cutter to cut banners to a specific length.

TrackXpress, meanwhile, is an automatic eyelet press that moves sideways with a track system attached to a finishing table.

Also on the company’s Fespa booth (A2-C10) is All In One, an in-line system that offers hem welding, eyeleting, and slitting. Fully automated with a vision system to detect eyelet and cut marks, the kit can finish a 50m roll in less than eight minutes.

The machine displayed on the company’s booth has been sold to UK business Pureprint Imprint, which is using it to boost finishing efficiency as it enhances the banner production part of the business. The machine will be installed at Pureprint Imprint in early June.

Also on the Plastgrommet stand is The Finishing Station, a small working station that integrates welding and eyeleting in one pass, assisted by an operator; and media roll lifters, available in electric and hydraulic options.
