Duplo said the German-manufactured machine makes working on a compact guillotine “much more efficient, easier and safer, resulting in optimal workflow and flawless precision”.
Compared to previous machines the programmable Ideal 56 is 40% faster during the cutting process, has 50% higher maximum pressing pressure, and the backgauge is now 100% faster, at up to approximately 100mm/sec.
The machine’s cutting length is 560mm and the cutting height is 80mm. Exact edges are mandatory for every cut and the precision-mounted knife guide, the electronically monitored press beam cover, and the manual backgauge fine adjustment contribute to this.
The device features an integrated 15.6-inch multi-touch GUI, which Duplo said ensured optimum usability and makes operating a professional guillotine “as easy as using a table”. The screen’s size enables the operator to see all the essential systems, measurements and variables in a single view.
The guillotine’s Cut-Control offers full transparency of the individual cutting steps, which can be used to create, manage, change, and process cutting programs.
The file manager, meanwhile, enables the creation of a freely selectable folder structure for upcoming tasks as well as the storage of meaningful project names for programs to be saved.
Frequently occurring print jobs can be saved as favourites directly on the home screen while already stored programs can be found and called up quickly via an integrated search function.
The Ideal 56 also has an ergonomic electro-mechanical precision blade drive and hydraulic clamp drive that are said to contribute to the intuitive controlling of the guillotine by enabling the manual fine adjustment of the backgauge.
Duplo UK head of sales Rob Thurston told Printweek the new cutter had strong USPs and was ideally suited to the new generation of operators that have been "raised on tablets and touchscreen technology".
"It has really smart functions that whilst not entirely expected will be a major time saver to operators. Things like, common, previous and even regular print jobs on the home screen, swipe navigation for job changes as well as manual adjustments – it just brings a very traditional way of cutting paper into the current technology level.
“It’s also the only guillotine in its class that is programmable and can store jobs, making it ideal for typically digital printers with medium volumes running lots of different format jobs every day.”
The device is commercially available immediately via the Duplo Supplies website and is priced at £15,097.
Earlier this month Duplo UK became the sole UK distributor for the Ultra Printflood range of UV, aqueous, and soft touch flood coaters.
