The web-to-print and mass customisation giant has signed for Ricoh’s new flagship continuous feed device, the Pro VC80000 which was part of Ricoh’s showcase in Düsseldorf.
The VC80000 prints at up to 150m/min and has a top resolution of 1,200dpi.
Target applications for the press include commercial printing, direct mail and publishing.
Its features include ‘firefly’ dryer technology, which uses small, heated rollers for a speedier start-up time.
Cimpress already runs Ricoh Pro C9500 toner devices at its European operations.
Cimpress founder, chairman and CEO Robert Keane said that by working together with Ricoh, the group had been able to identify “a powerful production solution” using the Pro VC80000, which supported responsiveness and efficiency.
“Customer service is central to everything we do, which is why we are collaborating with Ricoh, a company with a similar dedication to the customer experience,” he stated.
Cimpress has not disclosed where the press will be installed.
The group will also deploy Ricoh’s Predictive Insight know-how, first introduced on the VC80000. It gathers data from workflow, print and finishing devices and uses AI and machine learning to optimise processes and maximise ROI.
